Hutch Wireless aims to hang on to marketing deal with CAT telecom.

Oct. 8--Hutchison CAT Wireless Multimedia has no plans to hand back its operating and marketing rights for the CDMA mobile phone service to CAT telecom, and instead intends to expand the service country-wide if a planned 10-billion-baht network expansion project is deemed viable.

The company was responding to CAT's stated intention to revise the details of the 15-year marketing provider agreement, in particular the equipment and base station network rental terms. The operator of the Hutch service rents the network in 25 provinces in the central region from BFKT, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hong Kong-based Hutchison.
