OPINION: Will Marks & Spencer's new per una due fashion line be a winner?

Oct. 6--Cropped tops and 12-inch mini skirts are among the more risque per una items that are likely to land on the scrap heap. George Davies has been over-ambitious in his attempts to lure teenagers from Top Shop with the new per una due range.

M&S boss Stuart Rose would rather win back the core "over-35" female shoppers than woo notoriously fickle adolescents.

It is hard to imagine middle-aged mothers splashing out on due's Caravan of Love hippy range. Now that per una is under M&S's control, the teenage range is tipped to be axed within months.

Rose wants to cut costs and get clothing sales moving again.
