Greenville, Wis., company aims to develop biodegradable fabric from wood pulp.

Oct. 7--GREENVILLE, Wis. -- A wood-based source of raw material rather than an exhaustible fossil fuel like oil isn't a hard sell for the state Department of Commerce.

Turns out it doesn't take much to excite the research chief at Biax-Fiberfilm Corp., N992 Quality Drive, either.

"Eight billion disposable diapers are landfilled each year," said Ron Zhao, Biax's director of research and development. "So if a company can develop a product that makes a diaper that's biodegradable, that's very good for the environment."
