GlaxoSmithKline move sparks animal rights fears.

Oct. 9--GlaxoSmithKline is investing millions of pounds on a research facility in Singapore as it faces threats of violence and intimidation from animal rights campaigners in Britain.
This has sparked fears that Glaxo's international rivals may follow suit by pumping research and development funds into low-cost Asian or Latin American laboratories rather than established British facilities.
It caps a turbulent week for the industry, where investor confidence has been sapped by drug failures and a major product withdrawal. Glaxo shares recovered some ground lost earlier in the week to close up 24p at UKpound 11.75.
