Cigna vice president resigns.

Oct. 12--Gregory Deavens, who was vice president of investor relations at CIGNA Corp., has left the company to join New York Life Insurance Co.
Deavens, 43, of Farmington will serve as a senior vice president at New York Life, responsible for financial analysis, budget and cost, and rating agency functions. He will report to Michael Sproule, the company's executive vice president and chief financial officer.
CIGNA says Timothy McGarrity, an assistant vice president, will head investor relations on an interim basis until a permanent replacement for Deavens is named. Deavens had spent five years with CIGNA, and before that, held various positions at GE Capital Corp.
