H-E-B grocery chain to be San Antonio Spurs' lead sponsor.

Oct. 12--To mark its 100th anniversary, grocery chain H-E-B will become the lead sponsor of the NBA's San Antonio Spurs.
H.E. Butt Grocery Co. has been a sponsor of the team for 18 years, but will now be included in all of the Spurs marketing and media efforts during a year's worth of events. Spurs and H-E-B executives will make the announcement at SBC Center today.
The presenting sponsorship is a Spurs first and still rare in professional sports. Only two other NBA teams -- the Detroit Pistons and the Toronto Raptors -- have similar agreements.
