Gulfstream crews work as a team to test new business jets in Savannah, Ga.

Oct. 9--The preflight briefing is scheduled for 9 a.m., but the real preparations start in darkness.

In the wee hours of the morning, John Breen and the rest of his ground crew begin prepping the Gulfstream V for its first test flight of the day.

This is the original G-V, built nearly 10 years ago and used by Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. to test a variety of experimental systems. Most recently, it was on loan to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration to help researchers there test synthetic vision systems.

The plane still sports the NASA logo.

While it looks like a typical G-V on the outside, inside it's anything but.
