Oct. 13--Hurricane Ivan damaged James Abney's rental mobile home in Florida so badly the only thing left standing was the kitchen faucet. He now calls it his good luck charm.
After seeing a photograph of the fixture in a newspaper last month, Delta Faucet workers recognized the spigot as one of the company's models and decided to help Abney, 55, an Air Force retiree.
The Carmel-based business this week donated $10,000 for Abney to put down on his new house in Abbeville, Ala.
When the Delta officials called with the offer, "the first thought was 'Is this for real?' " said Abney. "I needed the help. I'm just grateful."
