Politicians like playing up University of Missouri connection.

Oct. 25--When the University of Missouri-Columbia Homecoming parade begins at 9 a.m. today, scattered among Greek floats and marching bands will be politicians reaching out to one of the area's biggest demographic groups -- Tigers.

Twenty-one candidates for office are likely to appear in the parade, according to the campus.

Politicians this campaign season frequently have evoked MU, claiming they are or will be a supporter or defender of the campus. And they claim they can represent the interests of MU -- and the community around it -- better than the other guy.
