Intel joins Seattle communications pioneer in new wireless technology venture.

Oct. 26--On the day Craig McCaw's old company, AT&T Wireless, came one step closer to being absorbed by Cingular Wireless, the cellphone pioneer announced that his latest venture, Clearwire, has formed a high-profile partnership with Intel.
The chip giant said it would help Clearwire develop an emerging high-speed wireless technology called WiMax and make an investment in the Kirkland-based company from Intel's $150 million technology venture fund.
As part of Intel's policy, it does not disclose specifics on its investments, but the Santa Clara, Calif., company characterized it as "significant."
