Oct. 28--AFFERENT SCORES VENTURE CAPITAL: Afferent Corp., a Providence-based start-up, has closed on a $4-million round of venture capital funding. The company reported yesterday that Point Judith Capital Partners, Long River Ventures, Village Ventures and the Nitta Corp. have all invested in the company. In addition, the Slater Center for Biomedical Technology, a partially state-funded organization, and Boston University also participated in the financing. Afferent is developing medical devices that treat neurologic problems, including falls by elderly people and post-stroke recovery.
