Oct. 28--Bellefonte-based Cerro Metal Products named Woody Petchel, a Mountaintop resident and former Penn State football player, as the company's new president Monday.
Petchel succeeds Charles Doland, who is retiring after 39 years with Cerro. He was named president in 1998.
Petchel, who graduated from Penn State with a Bachelor of Science degree in recreation and parks in 1976, was a running back for the Nittany Lions between 1972 and 1976. He has worked in the metals industry for the last 12 years, according to his wife, Sharon.
Petchel joins Cerro from Koehler-Bright Star Inc. where he took over as president in March.
