Recreational boaters' spending helps businesses stay afloat, study reveals.

Oct. 29--On a sunny October day, 91-year-old Charles C. Ragonese did not hesitate to draw the anchor and go for a boat ride on Lake Ontario. His age won't stop him and neither will high fuel prices.
Mr. Ragonese, a summer resident of Henderson, said: "Gas prices are not a factor. As long as I'm having fun and the weather permits, I keep going."
A recent study by New York Sea Grant found that businesses that cater to recreational boaters fared well in the economically adverse climate of 2003.
