Chicago trucking chief suddenly resigns.

Nov. 3--Richard P. DiStasio abruptly stepped down from the top posts at Chicago trucking concern USF Corp., apparently under pressure from the board that installed him as chief executive only fourteen months ago.

Without explanation, the company formerly known as USFreightways said directors and the 50-year-old DiStasio had "mutually agreed to terminate the employment relationship."

Under Tuesday's accord, DiStasio resigned as president, chief executive and chairman, and left his seat on the board as well.

A person familiar with the board's thinking said directors sought DiStasio's resignation because the executive had lost the confidence of his management...
