West Texas energy leaders hail second Bush term.

Nov. 4--The Permian Basin oil and gas industry stands to benefit from having George W. Bush return to the White House for another four years, industry leaders say.

Bush, a former Midland independent oilman, supports Department of Energy funding of energy-related research projects in the Permian Basin, Bob Kiker, regional director of the Petroleum Technology Transfer Council, said Wednesday.

The DOE funds PTTC projects that seek to find more efficient, more economical and more environmentally friendly exploration and production methods, Kiker said.
