Developers return to council with new plan for arena in Horry County, S.C.

Nov. 5--Less than two weeks after tabling discussion on a proposed arena at Coastal Carolina University, developers returned Thursday to Horry County Council with a plan asking for less public support and showing the ways the project could benefit the county.

The latest proposal asks the county for $4 million, down from the $7.5 million requested earlier.

Coastal Carolina Arena LLC developers also want to establish a tourism admissions district, with Conway's share of the arena admissions tax used to build a parking lot connected to the project.
