Ford hopes high-priced supercar proves powerful sales tool.

Nov. 6--Few people will ever get to push the big red starter button in Ford's new GT, rousing its 550-horsepower engine. Most will never fold themselves into one of its racing-inspired carbon-fiber seats.

But when two of the rare 200-mph GTs finally arrive at Dallas-area Ford dealerships next week, they will roll in as true car stars - probably attracting hundreds of people who come just to gawk.

The new GT is based on the GT40 from the mid 1960s. In the process, the GT may greatly embellish Ford's working-class image.
