Brookings report ranks Pennsylvania as poor in worker retention, growth.

Nov. 6--Dismal rankings from a report issued by The Brookings Institution Center on Urban and Metropolitan Policy show that Pennsylvania's economic path has much to be desired.
The state is haunted by the No. 1 ranking when it comes to loss of young workers; is 47th when it comes to employment growth; and is 48th in population growth nationwide, based on the 2003 survey.
"It's not very promising, so there's some real challenges here," said Craig D. Weidemann, vice president for outreach at Penn State. "The state has rich resources and rich history, but the report shows there's some real challenges."
But he believes there is hope....
