New hospital, new style takes form in Portland, Ore.

Nov. 9--If Physicians' Hospital succeeds in bringing a new approach to health care to the Portland area, patients will notice a difference right away.

Plans for Portland's newest hospital call for, among other novelties, unrestricted visiting hours, body massages before surgeries and aromas of baking muffins and cookies.

The former Woodland Park Hospital in Northeast Portland's Gateway area, which put many new employees to work Monday, will be the first Portland-area hospital to operate using a model developed by a nonprofit organization called Planetree.
