Nov. 11--SIMMONS COMES OUT OF SLUMBER: One can't call Simmons a sleepy company.
Atlanta-based Simmons Co., one of the world's top mattress manufacturers, moved its headquarters here in 1975. Since then, it has had a tumultuous track record with several different owners and executives.
But today, the company has stable management, a majority owner committed to long-term results, and a reinvigorated research and development arm. Now the company has filed to go public, with an offering expected early next year.
