Music downloads purported to be fast with Vodafone's 3G launch in U.K.

Nov. 11--Vodafone wants to win 10m subscribers to its new third-generation service within 16 months as it finally begins recouping its 20 billion pounds investment with the lure of video clips and fast music downloads.
Chief executive Arun Sarin said Vodafone was "leading the charge" by introducing 3G in 13 countries. Orange and others will follow.
Sarin says the gradual migration of customers to the new package will not hit margins. "It is not a Big Bang," he said.
More than a million subscribers are expected in the UK, although its 3G network only covers 60 percent of the population. Vodafone spent 5.9 billion pounds on a UK licence.
