Officials hear Louisville, Ky., mayor's pitch for public ownership of utility.

Nov. 17--FRANKFORT, Ky. -- Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson got an interested but cautious response yesterday from Gov. Ernie Fletcher and Lexington Mayor Teresa Isaac's chief of staff in his pitch for public ownership of the state's largest utility if it goes up for sale.

Abramson met for 23 minutes with Fletcher in the Capitol and then for about 30 minutes with Gerald Smith in Lexington to discuss the possible sale of LG&E Energy by its German parent company, E.ON. Isaac was unable to meet with Abramson because she was with the family of Marine Lance Cpl. Sean Michael Langley, who was killed in Iraq and whose funeral was held yesterday.
