Nov. 17--CONGRESS NEEDS TO DO THE RIGHT THING FOR SAN ANTONIO AIRPORT: A seven-year struggle to make San Antonio International Airport a port of entry for small aircraft comes down to this week's lame-duck session of Congress.
Even then, it won't be over for the San Antonio business community.
U.S. Rep. Charlie Gonzalez, D-San Antonio, won a temporary victory in 2000 when the airport received a two-year designation as a port of entry.
The real winner was the San Antonio economy because the designation meant that small aircraft -- usually carrying business passengers from Mexico -- could land in San Antonio without first landing at another Texas...
