Temecula, Calif., biotech firm adds stem cell products.

Nov. 15--A Temecula biotechnology firm announced Nov. 3 the purchase of its first embryonic stem cell lines for its stem cell product portfolio.

Chemicon International Inc., a division of Serologicals Corp. in Atlanta, acquired two mouse embryo stem cell product lines from Primogenix Inc., a mouse embryonic stem cell provider in St. Louis.

Researchers will use the cells to study mammal embryo development and the role genes play in the development of Alzheimer's, cardiovascular disease and other disorders toward treatments for those diseases. They will be able to genetically engineer mice.
