Soil samples from firm's Norco, Calif., testing site show low chemical levels.

Nov. 22--NORCO, Calif. -- Soil vapor samples from Norco High School's football field and two homes in the 2000 block of Hillside Avenue show very low levels of two chemical compounds found primarily in gasoline.

The levels of benzene and toluene found at the high school were lower than the amounts at the Hillside residences, according to a report from Environ, the environmental testing firm hired by Wyle Laboratories, an El Segundo-based business that developed products for the defense industry. Wyle used its 429-acre Norco site to test rocket motors and electronics, and is under a state consent order to clean up contamination. Samples were taken at the end...
