Brownsville, Texas, charities gear up for Thanksgiving holiday.

Nov. 24--BROWNSVILLE, Texas -- Maria Nava's eyes glowed when she took two bags of groceries and a turkey on Tuesday from a volunteer at Good Neighbor Settlement House.

Nava, a Buena Vida neighborhood resident, was making plans to cook a Thanksgiving dinner for her family on Thursday.

Nava, 55, was one of many families who received groceries and turkeys from the charitable institution that helps the poor and homeless on East Tyler Street between E. 12th and E. 13th streets.
