Nov. 30--VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. -- CESAR CHAVEZ AWARD RECIPIENT IS NAMED: Anthony Ramos has received the 2004 Cesar Chavez Award from the state Association of Mexican American Educators for his work on behalf of the community and its children.
AMAE gave Ramos his start more than 20 years ago. A lifelong Ventura County resident, Ramos grew up in El Rio and first became involved with his local AMAE chapter when he was 10, helping his sister do various tasks and attending conferences with her.
In 1985, a scholarship was awarded to him for college, and he has continued to give back to the association as his professional career develops.
