Washoe Tribe gets solar rebate from Las Vegas-area utility.

Dec. 1--Sierra Pacific Power Co. on Tuesday issued its first rebate under the state's solar power program but it held the presentation ceremony inside because of bitter winter weather and snowfall on the ground at its headquarters in Reno.
The utility presented a $33,185 rebate to the Washoe Indian Tribe, which installed a solar panel system on one of its buildings. The parent company also owns and operates Nevada Power, which also has a solar rebate program.
Fifty-five small commercial and residential projects in Nevada are under construction and are eligible for a total of $1 million in rebates for solar photovoltaic systems, according to the companies. Photovoltaic systems...
