Orange County, Fla., moves to improve safety on deadliest roads.

Dec. 1--Orange County has negotiated a multimillion-dollar deal to speed traffic improvements on Colonial Drive, one of the nation's deadliest roads.
The county will announce today that it is lending $10 million to the Florida Department of Transportation to move up plans to widen East Colonial, also known as State Road 50, to six lanes from Semoran Boulevard (S.R. 436) to the Central Florida GreeneWay (S.R. 417).
The improvements also call for bridging Colonial over Semoran, adding and repairing sidewalks, and installing streetlights.
