Dec. 1--DAYTON, Ohio -- Amcast Industrial Corp., a metal products manufacturer, on Monday said it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and received $15 million in new financing to keep its operations going.

Filing for bankruptcy protection enables Amcast to restructure its capital and reduce its debt by $30 million. Improved working capital and less debt is expected to strengthen Amcast's balance sheet.

In addition, Amcast received a commitment from its lenders for up to $15 million in new debtor-in-possession financing. This financing, combined with Amcast's cash from operations, is expected to provide funding for the business during the Chapter 11...
