American offers incentives for workers who leave voluntarily.

Dec. 3--FORT WORTH, Texas -- American Airlines is hoping to slow the pace of layoffs by offering benefits to some employees who choose to leave.

The struggling Fort Worth carrier has announced that it will cut 1,100 jobs in its latest layoffs, and executives recently warned that more cuts are likely in the coming months.

Incentives being offered to employees who choose to leave will likely be most attractive to employees who are already considering moving on, said Sonja Whitemon, a spokeswoman.
