San Jose, Calif.-area grade-schoolers give Honda robot rock-star reception.

Dec. 3--Hundreds of screaming, squealing grade-school children who filled Memorial Auditorium at Stanford University seemed to be anticipating a rock concert, or at least Britney Spears. But they came by the bus-load on field trips from around the Bay Area on Thursday to see Asimo, a 4-foot-tall humanoid robot developed by Honda Motor.
Asimo (the name stands for Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility) walked, talked, climbed up stairs and even did the hula and a few disco moves as part of Honda's U.S. tour. Honda is taking Asimo to about 10 universities in the United States to generate interest among children of all ages in science, engineering and robotics....
