H.E. Butt Grocery Co. to raze old San Antonio Levi plant.

Dec. 3--The old Levi Strauss factory on South Zarzamora Street on the Southwest Side -- once the workplace for more than 1,000 people -- has been a lifeless shell since it closed in 1990.
But in the past three months, San Antonio-based H.E. Butt Grocery Co. has bought the 11-acre-plus site and has begun to demolish the old Levi building at 6818 S. Zarzamora St.
H-E-B isn't being specific about what it plans for the land. Near the old Levi building, at 7010 S. Zarzamora St., is a 24-year-old H-E-B considered one of the busier units in the chain.
It's also adjacent to a shopping strip center that an H-E-B related entity has owned for a while....
