University of Oregon to gauge performance of economy.

Dec. 3--The University of Oregon released its first index of economic indicators Thursday to do for the state what the independent research group The Conference Board does for the nation with its index of leading economic indicators.
The UO index gives a monthly snapshot of Oregon's economy, based on eight measures, including the state's labor market, construction industry and shipping activity, as well as national consumer confidence, manufacturing orders and financial market conditions.
