CEO looks to strengthen position of ad-agency group Publicis in India.

Dec. 8--Around eight years ago, a relatively unknown agency group from France was slugging it out for the big league. Still a good distance from challenging the mighty triumvirate of Omnicom, WPP and Interpublic, Publicis was spoken of in the same breath as its arch-rival, fellow-French agency Havas.
Over the last few years, with the acquisition of Saatchi & Saatchi and Leo Burnett to name just a couple, it's quite clear who won that round. Maurice Levy, chairman and CEO, Publicis Groupe recalls, "Havas was dominating the French market when Publicis started. It was really very difficult for us to beat them."
