Dec. 9--Our remedies oft in ourselves do lie, penned the Poet. Practical men, like Kinetic Group's Arun Firodia, say India can be wholly energy self-reliant, using biomass, no bull.

In an article in The Times of India on Wednesday, Mr Firodia writes how cattle dung, properly used, can practically end all our petroleum imports. Whether or not our livestock wealth, the world's largest, yields enough dung to meet all our energy needs, there is no gainsaying that at present, this resource is sadly underutilised. There's a load of energy in dung of all origin, not just that of cattle.
