Cumulus Media buys eighth radio station in central Missouri.

Dec. 9--Cumulus Media Inc. has added an eighth radio station to its Mid-Missouri lineup, thanks to an unprecedented federal auction.

The Federal Communications Commission sold more than 250 radio broadcast permits in November in its first open auction of FM frequencies. Among the auctioned licenses was 103.1, a new frequency based in Linn.

Atlanta-based Cumulus, which bought out local broadcast company Premier Marketing Group in March, snapped up 103.1 for $879,000.
