European airport operator BAA hails passenger comeback.

Dec. 11--Airport operator BAA saw passenger numbers take off again last month despite a decline in European holiday charters and US flights during the presidential election. BAA (down 7 1/2 pence to 579 1/2 pence) handled 10.2 million travellers in November, a 3 percent rise on the same month last year. Passenger traffic rose most at Aberdeen (up 10.9 percent), Southampton (up 9.9 percent) and Glasgow (up 5.6 percent).

Growth at Stansted (up 4.2 percent) slowed. BAA said: "While easyJet and other airlines continued to enjoy good growth at Stansted in November, Ryanair's traffic growth was low." There was an 8 percent "underlying decline in the European charter market."
