Dec. 12--Still strapped for holiday gift ideas? Look no farther than a bookstore.

For readers especially interested in things economic, 2004 has seen some good new offerings. The oldies are also good.

What follows is a sampling of books published this year that suggests the range of topics treated by various authors. There are plenty of others to choose from -- go see for yourself.

All the books cited here are hardbacks (they are gifts, after all), but some bookstores may offer them at discounts from the publisher's price.
