New CEO picked for Chicago-based telecom equipment maker.

Dec. 17--Chicago-based telecommunications equipment maker Stratos International, Inc. on Thursday named a new chief executive, filling a vacancy created last month by the resignation of former CEO James McGinley.
The company, which has never recovered from the technology meltdown in 2001, announced that Phillip (Andy) Harris, a member of its board of directors since 2003, will become president and CEO. Harris is a retired executive vice president of Sprint North Supply, a communications equipment supplier.
