Dec. 17--Steve Reeder, a fire captain for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, has advice for anyone who wants to do his job. They can't be afraid to get dirty and must get along well with others.
As fire captain for the San Luis Obispo station, Reeder spends much of his time at his home away from home. Since Reeder and others often put in 24-hour shifts, Reeder says the extensive time together has made his co-workers his second family.
