Officials plan expansion of State College, Pa., airport.

Dec. 18--Success is placing a greater strain on the University Park Airport these days. But airport officials are making plans to counter that strain with expansion and improvement projects designed to offer fewer delays for passengers and room for growth.

Construction should begin this spring on 50 T-hangars and a new system for de-icing planes. At the same time, work will begin on designs for the airport's first on-site control tower, which airport officials expect to be constructed and operational within two years. Plans for an instrument landing system for one of the airport runways would account for the rest of a planned $12 million to $15...
