Alaska's Cook Inlet Region Inc. appoints new chief executive.

Dec. 18--Cook Inlet Region Inc. has named Margie Brown its new chief executive, effective Jan. 1.
She will replace Carl Marrs, who last summer announced that he would resign in the hopes that doing so would help close a growing rift between competing factions on the Anchorage-based regional Native corporation's board of directors.
William Prosser, CIRI's chairman, said the process of selecting a new chief executive -- which concluded Thursday with board interviews of four finalists and Brown's appointment -- in itself went a long way toward bringing the board together.
"It was a unanimous decision," he said Friday.
