Former SEC Official Launches RestoreTheTrust.com to Support Sarbanes Accounting Reform Bill; Investors Call for Truth in Reporting

WASHINGTON, July 1 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Exactly one week before the Senate will debate accounting reform legislation by Senator Paul Sarbanes (D-Md.), a former Securities and Exchange Commission official, Nancy M. Smith, today announced the launch of a new Web site for investors to express support for accounting reform. RestoreTheTrust.com enables investors to send an e-mail to their senators urging them to vote for Sarbanes' bill, the "Public Accounting Reform and Investor Protection Act of 2002" (S. 2673), the only accounting reform measure to restore trust in corporate financial reports.
