TSA Tests Elimination of Gate Screening in Two Pilot Programs

WASHINGTON, Sept. 24 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Under Secretary of Transportation for Security James M. Loy announced today the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has launched two pilot programs designed to increase security while making it easier for ticketed customers to move through the airports.
The programs are being conducted at Los Angeles International Airport's Terminal 4 in cooperation with American Airlines and at Long Beach Municipal Airport in cooperation with JetBlue Airways.
As part of these tests, TSA will conduct all passenger identification and enhanced security screening procedures at the primary security checkpoint, thereby eliminating the requirement for gate screening. This new screening procedure will require all customers to obtain boarding...
