HHS Secretary Thompson Elected as Chair of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS

WASHINGTON, Jan. 31 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Secretary of Health and Human Services Tommy G. Thompson was elected today as Chair of the Board of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. In accepting his position of chair, Secretary Thompson said, "I look forward to working with the board to ensure that we fund financially sound projects that achieve maximum results. We must bring care and hope as soon as possible to the millions of people around the world who are ravaged by these diseases."
