AFSCME to Picket North Oakland Medical Center

PONTIAC, Mich., Sept. 26 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Albert Garrett, president of Michigan Council 25 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), AFL-CIO, issued the following statement regarding informational picketing by AFSCME Local 100 scheduled for 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at North Oakland Medical Center in Pontiac:
"We have taken this step because of the horrendous activities in which North Oakland Medical Center (NOMC) has engaged," stated Garrett. "AFSCME Local 100 has been negotiating a new contract with NOMC since 2003, and NOMC has repeatedly used illegal tactics in an attempt to intimidate the members and pressure them into accepting less than they deserve.
