WASHINGTON, Sept. 13 /U.S. Newswire/ -- In the wake of the emergency communications problems experienced during and after Hurricane Katrina, the National League of Cities (NLC) today called on Congress to take immediate action on legislation that would set a firm date for television broadcasters to return the radio frequencies that has been set aside for public safety purposes. NLC has long been a vocal advocate for legislation that would permanently clear broadcast spectrum for local emergency officials, including the SAVE LIVES Act and the HERO Act.
