Watchdog Group Calls for FDA Advisory Committee Member's Resignation

GAITHERSBURG, Md., Feb. 9 /U.S. Newswire/ -- A citizens group called for the resignation of psychologist Louis A. Morris from the FDA's Advisory Committee on Drug Safety and Risk Management today. This came as the advisory committee met to discuss sudden deaths and other adverse events possibly related to the use of drugs used to treat Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
"We understand that Dr. Morris may not be participating in this meeting," said Sandra Lucas. "But, considering this gentleman's broad consulting interests in the pharmaceutical and drug advertising industries, it is hard to envision a committee meeting in which he would not have a conflict of interest. That's why we're calling for his immediate resignation."
