SLDN Calls on Bush Administration to Keep its Pledge of Non- Discrimination in Security Clearance Procedures

WASHINGTON, March 16 /U.S. Newswire/ -- White House spokesman Scott McClellan on Wednesday promised there has been no change in the federal government's pledge to protect security clearance applicants from discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. The White House's comments followed concerns raised by Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN) after reports surfaced that changes in security clearance guidelines may dilute a 1995 executive order prohibiting discrimination in the issuance of clearances.
